Texas Flood Tragedy Claims Sisters as Family Clings to Hope for Missing Grandparents

The Harber family of North Texas is grieving the tragic loss of sisters Blair (13) and Brooke (11),

who were swept away during the devastating Texas Hill Country floods on July 4. The girls were found

15 miles downstream—still holding hands. Their grandparents, Mike and Charlene Harber, remain missing.

The family had been staying at a riverfront home in Hunt, Texas, when floodwaters rose suddenly. Parents R.J.

and Annie Harber broke a window to escape and tried to rescue their daughters and parents using a borrowed kayak,

but the current was too strong. While they and five others survived, the heartbreak of losing Blair and Brooke remains.

A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $169,000 to support the grieving family. Shared photos capture cherished memories of the girls’

joyful lives. A joint funeral will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas, even as the search continues for their grandparents.

The floods claimed over 80 lives and left many missing across central Texas. Amid the sorrow, support has poured in from across the country.

The Harber family’s story stands as a painful reminder of love, loss, and the resilience needed to endure the unimaginable.
