What Lurked Beneath the Field

Rancher Jack thought it was an ordinary morning until he noticed something strange in his cornfield. Overnight, the stalks had withered,

and scattered across the soil were smooth, pale eggs that didn’t belong. His first instinct was to destroy them, but his daughters begged him to wait.

Soon, the entire farm seemed unsettled. The animals grew restless, refusing to leave their pens, while at night a low hum echoed across the fields,

vibrating through the walls of the farmhouse. Even Jack’s barn cat returned shaken, as if it had encountered something beyond explanation.

The mystery deepened when his youngest daughter swore she saw the eggs move. Jack followed her into the brittle rows of corn and found himself surrounded—

dozens of glowing shells pulsing in rhythm with the hum that filled the air. It was no longer just a farm problem; something larger was happening.

As the sun set, Jack realized the truth: the land wasn’t simply changing—it was being claimed by something far older and stranger

than himself. Whatever was inside those eggs was waiting, and when it emerged, nothing on the farm would ever be the same again.
