A tragic shooting at a house party in Mountain View, near Hickory, North Carolina, left one person dead and eleven injured early Sunday,
June 1. Deputies responded to Walnut Acres Drive around 12:45 a.m., according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
About 100 people, including children, were gathered for a pool party when gunfire erupted. Shots were fired outside,
spreading across the front and back yards and into a neighboring property, creating a large investigation scene.
One victim died, another remains in critical condition, and several others are hospitalized with varying injuries.
Authorities confirmed that multiple firearms were involved, though suspects have not yet been identified and no arrests have been made.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting local officials as the investigation continues. Detectives
are working to piece together what sparked the violence at what began as a community gathering.
