Charlie Kirk, 31, was critically injured during a
speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday,
September 10, 2025, and later died in hospital. The conservative
leader, best known as founder of Turning Point USA,
was remembered by his organization as a passionate
advocate for young voters and open dialogue.
Authorities believe the attack came from a distance,
possibly from a rooftop. The investigation remains active,
but no suspect has been identified. Two men were wrongly
detained early on: one falsely claimed involvement, and another was taken in based
on video footage before being cleared. His mother told
The New York Post her son was a supporter of Kirk and left shaken by the experience.
The incident caused panic on campus as students rushed
for shelter, with many calling family members amid confusion.
Some initially mistook the sounds for fireworks.
Attendees later questioned the lack of security
measures such as bag checks or metal detectors at
the event, which was held in a crowded campus area.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the investigation
is ongoing. As of September 11, authorities
continue searching for the person responsible while the
community grieves the loss of a nationally recognized figure.
