New Suspect Who Allegedly Shot Charlie Kirk Identified & Is In Custody – Details

Authorities have confirmed a major development in the case of political activist Charlie Kirk’s death.

Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, has been identified and taken into custody in connection with the September 10, 2025,

incident at Utah Valley University. His father, a longtime law enforcement officer,

contacted authorities and ensured Robinson was safely handed over late on September 11 in southern Utah.

At a press conference, Utah Governor Spencer Cox and FBI Director Kash Patel provided updates. Cox noted Robinson’s

clothing matched surveillance images, while Patel praised the rapid, coordinated law enforcement response,

calling it “historic progress” achieved within 33 hours. Officials added Robinson had recently become more

politically engaged, and a relative recalled him mentioning Kirk’s planned visit to the university.

Robinson’s background includes a mother employed in social services and a scholarship at Utah State University.

He resides in Washington, Utah, about 260 miles from Orem, where the shooting occurred.

Despite the arrest, investigators have not determined a motive. The FBI has received over 11,000 tips,

with Patel stressing that all leads are under review. Robinson remains in custody as legal

proceedings advance, while officials urge public cooperation and patience as the investigation continues.
