Gang finds unusually spiky creatures in nest

Ecologists at Mt Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary in Australia have made a promising discovery:

a litter of newborn western quolls, a species once on the brink of extinction.

The species, also known as chuditchs, had declined dramatically since European

settlement and was only found in small clusters in southwestern Australia.

Recently, researchers successfully reintroduced the quolls to the sanctuary,

where they are now thriving and reproducing. This marks a significant

step toward restoring the species to its former range and ensuring its future in the ecosystem
