Brad Sigmon, 67, is set for execution by firing squad tonight (March 7),
marking South Carolina’s first execution of this kind. With hours remaining,
Sigmon has pleaded for clemency from Governor Henry McMaster.Sigmon was
sentenced to death in 2002 for the brutal murders of his ex-girlfriend’s parents,
David and Gladys Larke, in Greenville County, SC. He beat them with a baseball
bat and kidnapped Rebecca Barbre at gunpoint. Barbre escaped, and Sigmon was also
sentenced to 30 years for burglary.Sigmon’s attorney, Bo King, argues against the
execution due to concerns over the handling of South Carolina’s lethal injection
protocol and the lack of transparency regarding the drugs used.
