Suspect in Frisco Track Meet Stabbing That Killed 17-Year-Old Athlete Austin Metcalf Speaks Out – Details

A tragic incident occurred at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas,

on April 3, when 17-year-old Austin Metcalf was fatally stabbed by Karmelo

Anthony, also 17, during an altercation. According to police, Karmelo admitted

to the crime, stating, “I’m not alleged, I did it,” after being confronted by officers.

He claimed he acted in self-defense after Austin allegedly grabbed him,

which led Karmelo to pull out a knife and stab Austin once in the chest. Austin later died from the wound,

in his twin brother Hunter’s arms.Austin, a student at Memorial High School,

was remembered as a talented and driven individual, with his family mourning

the loss of a promising young man who had aspirations to play college football.

Austin’s parents, Jeff and Meghan Metcalf, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

Jeff described it as part of “God’s plan” but called the incident “murder.”

The Metcalf family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support their healing,

which has raised over $300,000. The community has rallied around them,

with Memorial High School honoring Austin with a moment of silence.Karmelo

Anthony is currently charged with murder and remains in custody on a $1

million bond. His attorneys have expressed their condolences to the

Metcalf family while emphasizing Karmelo’s right to due process. They

are seeking a reduction in his bond and re-evaluation of the charge,

citing Karmelo’s claim of self-defense. In response, Karmelo’s family

has set up their own fundraiser, which has raised nearly $270,000, with

some supporters voicing their belief that Karmelo was defending himself

from bullying.If convicted, Karmelo faces a potential prison sentence

ranging from five to 99 years under Texas law. Both families are navigating

this difficult and complex situation, and the legal process is expected to unfold in the coming months.
