Her Parents Forbade Her From Using Makeup & She Never Considered

Jennifer Garner’s journey to fame wasn’t easy. Before making it in Hollywood,

she ironed shirts for theater casts just for a place to sleep and walked

miles to auditions because she couldn’t afford the subway. Raised in

a strict West Virginia home, appearance was never emphasized—discipline,

humility, and hard work were. She didn’t grow up thinking she was pretty

and struggled to find her place next to her high-achieving siblings.

College changed everything. She switched from chemistry to drama after,

discovering her passion for acting. From odd jobs to sleeping on a

stranger’s kitchen floor in NYC, she hustled her way into small roles—eventually landing a part on,

Felicity in 1998. Today, Garner is known for her down-to-earth charm, co-founding a baby food company and working with Save the Children. Despite fame, she remains grounded—true to her roots, values, and self.
