Try This Simple Homemade Mix to Keep Flies and Pests Away Naturally

Tired of flies buzzing around your kitchen or bugs hiding under your sink? You’re not alone. These small pests can turn any clean home into a frustrating

space. Luckily, there’s a quick and easy solution using everyday ingredients you likely already have — and it’s safe, natural, and effective.

The trick? A blend of mint toothpaste, baking soda, and white vinegar. The mint scent repels insects, while the bubbling reaction helps the mixture

reach deep into crevices where bugs love to hide. This DIY mix works great near common trouble spots like trash bins, drains, and windows.

To make it, mix 1 tablespoon each of mint toothpaste and baking soda. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar slowly, allowing it to fizz.

Stir in 120 ml of lukewarm water, and for extra strength, add a few drops of peppermint essential oil (optional).

Once ready, pour the solution into jar lids or small containers and place them around your home. You can also dab it along

baseboards or corners using a cotton swab. Refresh every 2–3 days to keep your space pest-free, naturally and affordably.

When my friend Mia set me up with Eric, I didn’t expect much—but our first date felt like a scene from a romantic movie. He showed up with flowers, a personalized keychain, and insisted on paying for dinner, saying, “A man pays on the first date.” I was flattered and thought I’d met someone genuinely sweet. Then, the next morning, Eric sent me an invoice. Yes, a real invoice—charging me for things like “roses for a hug,” “dinner in exchange for a second date,” and “engaging conversation” as payment for a compliment. It was formatted like a business receipt, and he was completely serious. I was stunned. I showed it to Mia and her boyfriend Chris, who had recommended Eric. Chris was just as appalled and decided to respond in kind—with a hilarious fake invoice charging Eric for “wasting a great woman’s time” and “a lifetime of silence.” We sent it, and Eric replied with angry texts claiming I’d missed out on a “great guy.” I blocked him immediately. The date began with charm and ended in absurdity. It taught me that real generosity doesn’t come with a price tag—and that red flags sometimes wear suits and bring flowers.
