Store Worker’s Corpse Found Trapped Between Shelves 10 Years After Being Missing

Missing Man Found 10 Years Later Behind Supermarket Shelves

In a shocking resolution to a decade-old mystery, the body of Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada—missing

since 2009—was discovered behind shelves at the Iowa supermarket where he once worked.

Murillo-Moncada, 25, vanished after running away from home during a period of erratic behavior,

possibly linked to medication. Despite years of searching, no trace of him surfaced until 2019, when workers dismantling

shelves at the now-closed No Frills Supermarket in Council Bluffs made a grim discovery: human remains wedged behind a cooler.

Authorities believe Murillo-Moncada had climbed onto the coolers, as employees often did, and accidentally

fell into an 18-inch gap between the unit and the wall. The hum of the compressors likely drowned out any cries for help.

DNA confirmed his identity, and he was still wearing the same clothes he wore the day he vanished. His mother

had long believed he never left the store, and while heartbreaking, the discovery finally brought her family closure.

No signs of foul play were found, and his death was ruled accidental—a haunting and rare case that left investigators stunned.
